Flexperience Young TAUW International
Young@TAUW supports flexible work opportunities between the TAUW countries. We talked to three young colleagues who welcomed the opportunity to work in a different TAUW location for a time. Local colleagues made them feel at home, guided them on the job and after work there was plenty of time for going out and sightseeing. This flexperience arrangement is in line with the required laws and regulations regarding international working.
Young@TAUW is an in-company network for employees under 36. Its mission is ‘connecting passionate young TAUW employees from different countries to facilitate international collaboration, knowledge exchange and (shared) personal growth.‘
Daria Volokitina (FR) went to Amsterdam (TAUW NL)
“My flex-work in Amsterdam was an engaging experience. What struck me most was the difference in culture. For example, in France we are used to taking a long lunch break, whereas my Amsterdam colleagues ate a quick sandwich behind their desk. I loved it that someone in the office volunteered to collect mugs and bring everyone coffee. This experience broadened my horizons and enhanced my professional development. I am bringing back new insights which I am excited to share with my colleagues in France. ”
Lara Clerici (NL) went to Douai (TAUW FR)
“I arranged an exchange week with Flore Theuillon at the Douai office. Flore works as an engineer in Industrial Risk Assessment, while I am a consultant in Acoustics and Industrial Safety. Flore was involved in acoustics on a project and so it was a great opportunity for us to work together. Being in Douai allowed us to exchange ideas and work techniques. We believe that this exchange resulted in some potential improvements, particularly for the acoustic studies TAUW France is doing, as it is a relatively new field for them.
Annerieke Bouwman (NL) went to Madrid (TAUW IB)
“There were some personal reasons to choose Madrid, such as learning the language and immersing myself in a different culture. But in terms of work it was also an interesting and instructive experience. I gave a presentation about Soil as Natural Capital, which is one of the services TAUW group provides. The presentation led to interesting discussions on the opportunities in this area for TAUW Iberia and Spain. I learned a lot from my Spanish colleagues and their way of working. It was interesting that we are all part of the same company with the same values but a different work culture.”
